Shanduka Foundation
Shanduka Foundation was established to embark on a proactive journey that would play a significant role in the upliftment of areas crucial to the development of South Africa and the economy as a whole. These areas primarily encompass education- our culture of learning- and small business and entrepreneurial development – our culture of earning.
The Foundation was formally launched in November 2004 as the vehicle for Shanduka Group’s philanthropic and social investment initiatives, with the Group committing to invest R100 million on social investments over a period of 10 years.
The Objectives of the Foundation are:

To advance Shanduka Group’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives.

To support projects aimed at improving South Africa’s most disadvantaged schools.

To sponsor and mentor historically disadvantaged students through study at tertiary institutions.

To support SMME’s through initiatives aimed at developing business skills and ensuring their sustainability.
The Foundation is managed by an independent Board of Trustees and is currently focused on the following initiatives:
Adopt-A-School-Foundation
The Adopt-a-School Foundation seeks to mobilise the private sector , organizations and individuals to support schools. By supporting the creation and enhancement of a conducive learning and teaching environment in state-funded schools. To date the Foundation has adopted over 130 schools in nine provinces.
Shanduka Black Umbrellas
Shanduka believes that the development of business skills is one of the most important aspects of ensuring the economic empowerment of previously disadvantaged people in South Africa.
Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust
The Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust was established in 1996 and has over the years provided five scholarships each year to deserving students, enabling them to continue their studies in business related courses at any accredited South African tertiary institution.
